the Caregiver's Companion

Kelly Johnson

Kelly Johnson is the Director of Adult Faith Formation at St. Mary of Gostyn Catholic Church in Downers Grove IL. It was in this role that she met Debra Kelsey-Davis, who, together, developed the curriculum, Nourish for Caregivers. From these — ‘this needs to be an on-going ministry’– beginnings, Nourish for Caregivers has now spread to over 70 churches across the United States. Nourish for Caregivers supports the practical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of caregivers
Kelly’s caregiving experience began in a sudden and unexpected way. Kelly was an advertising executive in three client meetings one day, and an ambulance with her son the next. Her then five-year-old son was diagnosed with a brain tumor; surgery, chemo and radiation therapy launched Kelly’s caregiving journey. She is continually amazed at the ways in which the Good Lord continues to use and stretch her.
She lives in the Chicagoland area with her family.

Deb Kelsey-Davis

Deb Kelsey-Davis is the co-founder of Nourish for Caregivers, a Registered Nurse, and a caregiver to her aging parents. Her healthcare leadership spans more than 35 years. But, in 2014, she walked away from corporate America after caring for her Mother-in-law, who fought and lost her battle with cancer. That experience had left her emotionally and spiritually depleted. Realizing if it could happen to her it must be happening to others, she turned away from her career feeling God nudging her to do something more…to focus on reaching out to and supporting caregivers. Along with Kelly Johnson, she’s been blessed to see Nourish for Caregivers born and becoming “all grown up”. Deb is on the board of the National Association of Catholic Nurses, where she is also nourishing an entirely different group of caregivers! She lives in the Chicagoland area with her husband and 2 furry-faced kids.
