Susan Rush, MSW

Susan has a psychology degree from Furman University and a master’s in social work from the University of South Carolina. She jokes that God didn’t lead her to a career in hospice, he took her kicking and screaming the whole way.

She’s now passionate about end-of-life care and enjoys educating caregivers and leading support groups. She has two published books, one a novel, Just Over the Horizon, and a devotional, Renew: 7 days to a More Positive Outlook.

Her first experience as a caregiver was twenty years ago when her dad was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. She and her mother cared for him for twelve years before he passed. And then, just two years ago, she stepped away from her hospice career to care for her mother who also had Alzheimer’s Disease and in recent weeks has passed as well.

While caring for her mom she started a youtube channel, Life with Al as a way to chronicle her journey with the hope of encouraging other caregivers.
